There are many gorgeous wedding hairstyles to choose among. Scour fashion magazines, discuss alternatives with your hairdresser or ask your friends for advice, which hairstyles fit you best.
The bride’s hairstyle should complement her gown, not compete with it. It is important that both your hairstyles match your wedding gowns and the style of your wedding.
The most important aspect of a bride’s hair is shine! Use a moisturizing conditioner before you begin styling, and then use a shining serum or spray to add gloss.
Short hair
Not all brides have long hair. Short hair is pretty and sophisticated and can be just as bridal as long hair.
Attach a comb, a flower, or a crown to make you hairstyle look more beautiful. Consult your hairdresser for advice. Different hair accessories can be bought in most wedding shops. You can also look for combs and barrettes in antique shops and flea markets.
Fresh flowers are a great way to lend a romantic, feminine look to short hair. Attach them to the veil, or place them around your head. If you are planning to wear flowers in your hair, make sure they match the bridal bouquet.
Why not wear a hat? It looks wonderful on short hair.
Long hair
If you have decided to wear your hair up, there are many wonderful updos you can do. Perhaps Chignon – a tight knot at the base of the head, French Braid – three-stranded braid woven close to the head, Bun – a ponytail wrapped around itself.
Why not pin up the front half of the head and let the rest hang down the back.
You can also wear your long hair loose with soft waves and curls.
Whatever you decide, find something that suits you and the overall style of your dress and the wedding.

Heat-Resistant Hairstyles
Summer is upon us, and I don’t know how hot it is where you are at, but, over here, it was a scorching 90 yesterday and needles to say the AC in my car broke. Deep Hair Conditioning at Home
If you’ve ever dyed your hair at home you know that you get that deep conditioner that leaves your hair super soft and manageable. Unfortunately, you can’t buy just the deep conditioner alone, so you end up spending tons of money of conditioners that claim to do the same thing. Well after spending money on those said conditioners, I wasn’t really satisfied. I didn’t really find a difference between my regular conditioner and the so-called “deep” conditioner.
So just a few months ago a friend of mine gave me a great beauty tip that she uses at least once a w...[....]

3 Simple Steps to Shiny Hair
We all want full, beautiful, youthful looking hair, and that means we just want lots of shine.
Why?
Because shiny hair simply passes off as healthy hair!
Did you know that the smoother the hair cuticle, the more shine it reflects?
When a hair cuticle is damaged, light gets absorbed into cracks and crevices, making hair look dull. Therefore, you need to fill in those cracks and use the right techniques to smooth the cuticle. So here are 3 simple steps to help you get the most shine out of your hair!
For Straight Hair
Step 1: CleansingBefore you get that shine, you need to cleanse your hair of all the built-up gunk from hair products that’s accumulated over time. For this, use a deep-cleansing shampoo once a week. Start by applying conditioner first from your ears all the way down to your ends to provide a protective barrier on the strands that helps prevent tears and split ends from forming. Continue by applying the deep-cleansing shampoo only to your roots, lather, and try rinsing with cold water to help seal and smooth the cuticle.
Step 2: Prep
Apply an anti-frizz serum or polishing milk to towel-dried hair. Make sure you run it through the hair using a fine tooth comb – this will ensure that those cracks and crevices get filled with moisture instead of being blow away when you start to blowdry. Finish off with a volumizing spray for a little pick-me-up.
Step 3: Finish and Style
Use a blow-dryer with a nozzle attached and point the airflow only downwards to help ensure smooth cuticles as you dry. Finish drying your hair with cold air from your blow-dryer and apply a shine spray or frizz serum to ends for ultimate shine
For Curly Hair
Start by using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, as curly hair tends to get a lot dryer than straight hair. For best shine results on curly hair, try washing every other day so you don’t strip the hair of its natural oils.
Step 2: Prep
Apply a frizz-ease serum or a shine curl-enhancing spray/cream to wet strands. Comb the cream throughout the entire hair using a wide-tooth comb because that will make the cuticle lie a little flatter.
Step 3 Finish and Style: Twist inch-size pieces around your finger, then scrunch the spirals up, shaping individual curls to make them more uniform. Finish off by blow-drying your hair with a diffuser or letting it air-dry to reduce heat damage.
10 Tricks to Avoid a Bad Hair Day
We’ve all had those days where we roll out of bed and realize our hair is just one big mess. And even if you’ve washed your hair the night before, it still looks blah. So how can you make sure your hair stays perfect all day? Here are 10 tricks to avoid a bad hair day!
#1. Baking Soda
As strange as it may sound, baking soda is actually a great friend for your hair. While you’re in the shower, sprinkle a dash of baking soda into your palm and mix with your shampoo. Rinse and condition as usual. The baking soda helps remove impurities and build-up so your hair comes out looking shiny, soft, and super manageable.
#2. Work With Your Bangs
You don’t always have time to wash your hair in the morning, so why not just style the surface? Wash your bangs only, and throw the rest of your hair in a cute, messy bun.
#3. Throw it in a Bun
This is what I do most of the time when my hair is a mess and I don’t have time to wash it. Just throw your hair in a chic bun and top it off with a sleek black headband.
#4. Add Volume
If you’re having one of those messy hair days, just flip your head forward and add a little bit of hairspray. Flip your hair back and scrunch with your hands for a sexy, messy look with tons of volume.
#5. Baby Powder
Baby powder works great for absorbing the oil in your hair. Just sprinkle some into your palm and rub into your hair. Not only will this absorb the oil, but it will also give your hair an extra lift.
#6. Back to Day One
Your hair always looks great right after you wash it, but what about the next day? Not so hot, right? Well to get that day one look, just put a showercap over your hair while taking your shower. The heat and moisturize from your shower will reconfigure your hair, making it softer, and more manageable. Just blowdry your roots a little when you’re out and you’re as good as new!
#7. Tease
Tease your hair a little to get more volume. Start by teasing the crown of your hair for that gorgeous, back volume. You can also do the front as well as the sides.
#8. Ballerina Bun
There is nothing more elegant than a simple ballerina bun. Just throw your hair into a small, tight bun and add a pair of pretty earrings and some lip gloss. If you sleep with the bun, let it out the next morning for that wavy, just-out-of-bed look.
#9. Dry Shampoo
Yes, there is such thing as a dry shampoo, which is basically a shampoo that you use on dry hair. You can find this at almost any drug store. Just scrunch it in through dry locks and you’re good to go!
#10. Switch Parts
If you’re getting tired of the same old look, grab a parting comb and switch sides. Switch your part to the other side or right down the middle. It makes a huge difference.
Fashion and Islam
Hijaab is an Attitude, not a Fashion (and it's for Men Too!!)
Wearing the Hijaab isn't just a matter of simply putting a piece of cloth on your head, it is an attitude, a way of thinking and behaving, and accepting yourself for who and what you are. Basically it constitutes an Islaamic way of life, it is a statement which indeed should portray a certain attitude.

Basically it constitutes an Islaamic way of life, it is a statement which indeed should portray a certain attitude.
A woman may indeed wear a long skirt and a scarf, but if she flirts constantly, then she can't be really described as wearing the Hijaab (Indeed clothes should be long, loose and not see through, after which any style of clothing is applicable). The whole idea involves conducting oneself with dignity at all times (that means running for the bus and boisterous behaviour in public is not a good idea!!). As previously mentioned, the Hijaab depicts a statement, and that is something one should be continually aware of. It identifies you as a Muslim, and ultimately people will judge Islaam by you, and that is a heavy responsibility!! Yet sisters, we must also be thankful that by wearing the Hijaab, we go a long way in fulfilling our duties of Da'wah. Curiosity prompts people to question us, giving us the opportunity to show the non-Muslims the beauty of our religion. O.k., so we may get the stares at times (to which one rapidly becomes immune), but it is amazing how many are sincerely interested, oh and not to forget the redoubtable old British ladies on the Tube ("Oh I do like your headdress, my dear!!!").Hijaab isn't meant to restrict you from doing the kind of things you want to do, it is a blessing because it makes us check our behaviour continuously, preventing us from doing the things that Muslims shouldn't be doing anyway. Anything (with the blessings of the Almighty, is possible) -studying, working etc. etc. -provided it is within the bounds of Islaam (Halaal).
Sometimes, however the decision to wear the Hijaab can become extra complicated through external pressures, notably family and friends. Unfortunately, even some Muslims nowadays look upon the Hijaab as being too "extreme", and the like and when these attitudes come from members of your family then the decision becomes all the more difficult. Speaking from experience, things do change, because ultimately, you are doing this for Allaah (s.w.t), and he will make it easy for you, by "softening" the hearts of those that may not be all that encouraging. Eventually they themselves will want to follow you because deep down they know that it is the right thing to do. If that doesn't help, then this should convince you:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said : Allaah the Almighty says:

On the other side, it is important to ascertain the motive for wearing the Hijaab. If you are thinking of wearing it to please your husband, to impress people at the mosque, or just as a change, then please think again. Hijaab (as with everything else) is to please Allaah (s.w.t) only, any other motive will not sustain that conviction.
A word also to our brothers; Hijaab may seem to be merely a woman's issue, but that is not so. Muslim men have to follow a dress code too, no matter if it isn't as extensive as for women it still exists! The men, like women, should also wear loose clothes -so no tight fitting jeans please!! Their attitude to all women should also always remain respectful and business like, as the women's attitude to men should be.
Finally, all of the above pales in significance to the words of our Creator (s.w.t):

Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, Allaah is All-Aware of what they do. And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like palms of hands or one eye or both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husband's sons, their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful. (Al -Qur'ân, ch.24:30-31)
Fashion Future
Fashion Futures 2025: Global Scenarios for a sustainable fashion industry
Fashion Futures is a call for a sustainable fashion industry. It’s designed to help organizations in all sectors take action which will safeguard their future, protect our environment and improve the lives of their customers, workers and suppliers around the world.
Four vivid scenarios explore how climate change, resource shortages, population growth and other factors will shape the world of 2025 and the future of the fashion industry within it. They are designed as a tool to challenge companies’ strategies, inspire them with new opportunities and help them plan for the future. We’ve brought them to life in four animations
The global fashion industry generates over a trillion dollars a year. So what we wear - and how it's made and sold - can have a huge positive impact on our society and environment. The report, produced by Forum for the Future and Levi Strauss & Co., describes how fashion companies can be successful by becoming sustainable.
We’ve created resources to allow these organisations to make use of in workshops and course work. Download them here.
The scenarios can also be used to help students understand the challenges of the future and come up with ideas for sustainable products and services. In 2009, we piloted a Fashion Futures module with students from the London College of Fashion’s MA Fashion and the Environment. Find out more.
The scenarios are full of vivid details: clothes grown in vats, 3-D body scanners and waterless washing machines. Much of this has a basis in fact. You can find out more [...].
"Companies need to be seeding innovation and new ideas now in order to thrive in a resource constrained world. We need thought-provoking research like Fashion Futures to help us collaborate and advocate for the right future solutions around the most important issues on sustainability," - Hannah Jones, Vice President, Sustainable Business and Innovation, Nike Inc.
Fashion Futures oulines the critical factors that are likely to shape the future of the fashion world. It presents vivid scenarios for the global fashion industry in 2025, implications derived from the scenarios, and what the industry can do about them now. It also includes practical ways that companies from all parts of the industry can use the scenarios.

“For the fashion industry to be sustainable economically, it must be sustainable socially and environmentally too. These provocative scenarios challenge all of us to look beyond the short term and use our collective power to work to create the kind of positive world we’d like to see in 2025.” - John Anderson, president and chief executive officer of Levi Strauss & Co.
The report draws on Forum for the Future’s expertise in futures thinking and a series of in-depth interviews and peer reviews with fashion experts from around the world – in academia, trade unions, NGOs, manufacturing, design and retail. The scenarios explore every aspect of the industry, from production of raw materials, through manufacturing and sale, to use and end of life. They cover a wide range of issues and pose some searching questions: - How will the industry react to climate change impacts, shortages of cotton and other raw materials?
- How could the fashion workforce be affected by shifting supply chains and technological development?
- How might technology influence fashion and change the way it is produced and sold?
- How will people care for their clothes in a future of water shortages and high energy prices?
- How could reuse and remanufacturing of clothing develop as a response to higher demand and prices?
